My name is Matthew Lawrence Kenney, but I was given the name Merlin by a Mexica elder, and it’s stuck ever since.

I have spent the last 10 years of my life dedicated to the practices of horoscopic astrology, ritual magic, and energy work.

I am formally trained in classical astrology, employing ancient techniques and methods of prediction birthed over 2000 years ago in Hellenistic Egypt. I predict the future and determine purpose and destiny by reading the planetary configurations at the moment of someone’s birth. Using the natal chart, I can determine spiritual focus, energetic makeup, and destiny of my client. I read German, Ancient Greek, Latin, and Sanskrit, and have read many of the foundational texts in my tradition in their original languages.

I have an exceptional track record for making accurate and concrete predictions about the future. It is by far the dominant focus of my astrological practice, as this is what astrology was originally used for in almost all instances throughout history.

Alongside reading natal charts, I am proficient in summoning and communicating with spirits and beings from the other side of the veil. I have spent the past ten years consistently practicing astrological magic and nurtering relationships with the spirits of the sky and stars. Now, whenever I do a magical ritual, I am working off a rapport and relationship with spirits that I have cultivated for the past decade. I work with spirits from planetary spheres, as well as spirits and group-entities from the realms of the stars. I also work very closely with elementals and nature spirits, as well as spirits of the deceased when needed.

On top of my ritual magic and astrology practices, I have also devoted a great deal of time and study to inner alchemy, energy work, and meditations for cultivating the magical power contained within the human vessel. This kind of work significantly empowers other forms of magic, but energy workers will also project their magical power for healing purposes. At higher levels, one’s own magical power can be used for conscious astral projection, influencing the weather, and controlling the elements.

Before I became a professional astrologer and magician, I studied philosophy, classics, and German at the University of Pittsburgh. I first devoted a great deal of time into analytic philosophy and took multiple courses on the philosophy of language and modal logic, and then studied Hegel, Heidegger, and other phenomenological thinkers before finally returning to my roots in the pre-socratics, platonists, and neo-platonist schools of philosophy. My immersion in the history of western philosophy and thought made me very literate in the mindsets and worldviews of western civilization, and my rigorous training in how to think - especially from logic classes - serves as a prophylactic against the bad and lazy reasoning that pervades spirituality circles in the west.

My personal practice includes ashtanga yoga, breathwork, daoist meditation, inner alchemy, qigong, and baguazhang. I engage in 2-3 hours of spiritual practice every single day to keep my own energy clear and my connection to the spirits clean and authentic. I am also an avid practitioner of the Wim Hof Method and have studied primitive skills and received the Scout initiation at the Tom Brown Tracker school. My wife and I both live a very monastic lifestyle where we are either engaging in practices, being of service with our crafts, or researching and learning more about the magical practices we love so much.

I hope that gives you a good sense of who I am, where I’ve been, and where I’m coming from. If you’d like to set up a session with me, you can contact me by clicking the button below. Looking forward to hearing from you!
